Riverton Armed Robbery Suspect Sought


riverton 07112016 2The Cherokeeriverton 07112016 1 County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery which occurred just prior to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11th, 2016 at the Riverton Quick Stop.

A male suspect, wearing light colored shoes, blue jeans, black jacket, bandanna, black plastic framed sunglasses, a red motorcycle helmet and light colored velcro style gloves, approached the female cashier as she was taking out the trash. He then demanded the money from the register and left in an unknown direction.  It is also unknown if he fled on foot or in a vehicle.

Noise Complaint Leads to Drug Arrest

On Thursday July 7, 2016 the Galena Police Department executed a search warrant at 2020 Galena Avenue in Galena, KS.

The search warrant stemmed from noise complaints received just after Midnight and lead officers to request a search warrant of the residence. During the course of the search, officers discovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Arrested at the scene where Bradley James Watkins, he is being held in lieu of $12,500.00 bond on allegations of possession of marijuana and methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia

Also arrested at the scene was Carolee Jo Laturner, she is being held in lieu of $15,000.00 bond on allegations of possession of marijuana and methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of an ID card.

Many families enjoy the 4th of July holiday with firework displays at their own home. Although they may be Beautiful, Fun and Exciting; they can also be dangerous, causing serious burns and injuries if handled incorrectly.
