September 2022 the Galena Police Department offered me a job as the Administrative Assistant. After working in the school system for over 10 years, I was excited for change. Glad I took a leap of faith and joined the department. I absolutely love my work family and helping the citizens of the community. Looking forward to many years ahead.

The Administrative Assistant serves under the direction of the Lieutenant & Chief of Police. Ensures the office area is always clean and professional in appearance. Constantly monitoring the department for proper ethical behavior and taking appropriate action where necessary. Ensures that the public is always greeted professionally and treated with courtesy. Answers all incoming calls and directs them as necessary.

Serves as the department’s Kansas Open Records Act Officer. Serves as the department liaison between the District & City Court and County and City Attorney’s Office and any member of the department on any matter affecting the Police Department.

Obtains and distributes all incoming mail and packages and ensures that all outgoing mail and / or packages are properly labeled & sent in a timely manner.

Properly files agency case files, file all reports into the filing system and separate reports into KBI, Accident Reporting Agency, County Attorney, etc. (mail these reports to the respected agency)

Conduct criminal record checks on all current and future employees and also on all those who are working on or near the Galena Police Department computers. Performs Vehicle Identification Number checks. Responsible for creating purchase orders for all Galena Police Department Purchases and ensuring that all purchases have been approved by the Chief of Police.

Is responsible for typing complaints from PCA’s for the Galena Municipal Court, serves subpoenas to officers or employees of the Galena Police Department. ensures all warrants are entered into the computer and properly pack the warrant records.
