PUBLIC NOTICE – City Clerk’s Office

The City Clerk’s Office will be closed to in-person services on Thursday, July 16, and Friday, July 17, while we work with our new utility billing software company to complete system updates.

Phone calls will still be accepted during normal business hours, and staff will be available to assist you by telephone whenever possible.

Please note: We will not be able to accept utility payments in person or process payments during this time.

Residents may still submit cash or check payments using the secure locked drop box located at the drive-thru window. Payments placed in the drop box will be processed as soon as our system is available.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we transition to our new software system and work to improve our services.

🚧 PUBLIC NOTICE – SCHERMERHORN PARK ACCESS CLOSURE 🚧

The City of Galena Public Works Department is currently working to restore the access roads at Schermerhorn Park following the recent flooding and storms.

Please be advised that the Main Gate access to the creek will be CLOSED today, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, while crews complete road repairs and ensure the area is safe for the public.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore access to the park. Please use caution around work areas and respect all posted barricades and closures.

🔥 Public Notice from the City of Galena Public Works Department 🔥

The City of Galena Public Works Department will begin burning the city brush pile starting today.

Due to the large amount of storm debris from the recent storms, the brush pile is significantly larger than usual and may continue to burn for several days. Residents in the area may notice smoke during this time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to safely dispose of the accumulated brush and storm debris.

PUBLIC NOTICE – UTILITY BILLING SOFTWARE UPDATE

The City would like to inform all utility customers of an upcoming transition to a new Utility Billing software system. This upgrade is part of our ongoing effort to improve service, enhance account management features, and provide a more user-friendly online experience.

What to Expect:

  • The new system is scheduled to go live in July 15, 2026.
  • All customers will have the option to create a new online account to access the updated system.
  • Existing login credentials will not be transferred to the new platform.
  • Customers currently enrolled in AutoPay will need to re-enroll once the new system is active.
  • Online access to account history, billing, and payment options will be available through the new portal after registration.
  • Printed and mailed bills will remain available for individuals who opt not to establish online access.

Important Notes:

  • There may be temporary interruptions to online payments and account access during the transition period.
  • Additional instructions and updates will be provided as we approach the launch date.
  • Customers are encouraged to ensure their contact information is up to date to receive notifications and public notices regarding this change.
